Sanna Manjang, a former member of Yahya Jammeh's notorious Junglers known as death squad, has been handed over to Gambian authorities by Senegal. Manjang was arrested on November 29 in Senegal's Casamance region and is accused of serious human rights violations, including torture, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings during Jammeh's rule.

The handover marks a significant step in The Gambia's pursuit of transitional justice, with Manjang facing possible charges of treason, terrorism, murder, and crimes against humanity. His arrest is seen as a major victory for victims of the Jammeh regime, who has been seeking justice for years.

Manjang's capture is also expected to intensify pressure on Equatorial Guinea to extradite Yahya Jammeh, who remains in exile.

The Gambian government has reaffirmed its commitment to justice, accountability, and human rights protection.

The arrest and handover demonstrate the effectiveness of regional cooperation between Gambia and Senegal in addressing cross-border criminal activities and upholding judicial cooperation.
