Senator Dick Durbin hails Bai Lowe’s verdict

Senator Dick Durbin of the United has hailed the sentencing of Bai Lowe, the ex-driver of former Gambian leader’s hit squad known as junglers to life imprisonment in Germany.

Lowe was charged with crimes against humanity and murder among others.

“Pleased to see further accountability from the horrors of the Jammeh dictatorship,” the U.S. Senator twitted and shared with The Point Newspaper. “Hoping there will similarly be justice for the death of fellow Gambian journalist Ebrima Manneh.”

Richard Joseph Durbin is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Illinois, a seat he has held since 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, Durbin is in his fifth Senate term and has served as the Senate Democratic whip since 2005 (the second-highest position in the Democratic leadership in the Senate) and as the Senate majority whip since 2021. He chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, and led the Ketanji Brown Jackson Supreme Court nomination hearings.
