The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Salam Financial Services (formerly Supersonic Microfinance), Ndungu Fatty, has announced he will contest for the position of presidency of the forthcoming Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) election scheduled to take place 5 September 2025.

He made this disclosure over the weekend at his office ahead of the forthcoming GCCI general election.

“2025 is a year of election for the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry to carefully elect democratically potential candidates who would run the affairs of the Chamber in the next three years,” he said, while hailing the outgoing president for the achievements registered.

According to him, Mr. Edi Mass Jobe, the outgoing President of GCCI had registered “unprecedented” achievements for the Chamber due to his “quality leadership” and experience in the business industry.

CEO Fatty pointed out that over the past years, he had been instrumental in championing the course of the Gambian private sector.

Having previously served as treasurer of GCCI, Mr. Fatty stated: "Today, I feel confident to contest for the presidency of GCCI and lead the chamber to a better future – not just for my personal gain, but rather for the greater good of the Gambian private sector.”

According to him, he has developed a manifesto for the GCCI 2025 Presidency bid dubbed: ‘Hexapro’ with six goals such as; inclusivity and diversity in terms of gender, age and regional engagement and participation in business; people value proposition; advocacy and stakeholder engagement; financial sustainability of the Chamber; cross border trade and regional trade and employer representation.

Mr. Fatty thus appealed for the general membership of the Chamber to support his candidature based on his “track record” as treasurer. “I am into The Gambians private sector,” he emphasised.

Mr. Fatty is an entrepreneur with expertise in the field of technology, finance, banking and corporate strategy with over 25 years experience in both the private and public sectors.

Mr. Fatty co-founded two Gambian companies – Lasting Solution Ltd. (employing some 35 employees) and Salam Financial Services Ltd., employing over 180 people.
