Reportedly, the complainant; a 49-year-old businesswoman from Latrikunda Sabiji, parted with the stated amount to scammers who disguised as genuine businessmen engaged in farming activities.
After parting with the money to the supposed partners, further requests for extra funds were made, thus raising suspicion.
Subsequently, the victim filed a complaint at Abuko station for police probe.
During police interrogation, three suspects were arrested in Jarra Soma and diverse areas. They were subjected to preliminary interrogations during which they admitted to the act.
All three suspects were cautioned, charged, and detained, pending further police probe.
Efforts are underway to trace the funds and bring all those involved to justice.
