The launching ceremony held at the residence in Bijilo on Saturday 7 February 2026, brought together various stakeholders to the evening Islamic conference where Muslim elders converged to recite the Holy Quran, preach, and offer prayers, as a sign of seeking Allah’s blessings to the new project.
Speaking to The Point, Alagie Morr Jobe, proprietor of the inaugurated residence, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of MJ Finance Bureau, confirmed that he named the residence after his father, Mouhamad-Dan Jobe.
The inaugurated residence is the first project-phase with 30 apartments which will accommodate 70 to 80 residents, CEO Jobe said, adding that the second phase is due to be completed in twelve months’ time.
Mr Jobe said: “Now I have plan B because there are so many exchange bureaus in The Gambia and I have to concentrate on plan B. There are a lot of bureaus - this is why I reduced my bureaus.”
He has diverted much of his exchange bureaus into his current project, he said, adding that one of his contributions to national development would be creating employment, as his project will be employing 30 to 35 Gambians. After this current project he would also venture into farming, he said.
Moreover, Mr Jobe said he would also concentrate on sponsoring Quranic schools, adding that he is currently sponsoring about 300 students at the Berending community Majlis school.
Interestingly, Mr Jobe revealed that he has also transformed his compound located in Touba, Senegal, into Quranic school (Majlis) where so many students are currently studying the Holy Qur’an to gain vast religious knowledge.
Meanwhile, CEO Jobe stated that he is the Halifa of Darul Hudus and Guiminda in The Gambia and represents Modou Mustapha Mbackeh, the son of the late Serign Touba of Senegal.
The night conference was led by a Senegalese scholar, Serign Hadim Mbackeh, who was accompanied by a high-powered delegation from Touba, Senegal.
