The arrival forms part of The Gambia’s ongoing efforts to attract cruise vessels and promote the country as a destination for international cruise tourism.
The SH Diana, which currently sails under the Liberian flag, is designed as a luxury expedition cruise ship, combining comfortable accommodation with expedition-style travel to destinations around the world.
The vessel was initially registered under the Panamanian flag when it was delivered in March 2023 before transferring to the Liberian registry in February 2024.
Following its arrival at Banjul Sea Port on Friday morning, the passengers were expected to have the opportunity to explore The Gambia’s tourism attractions and experience aspects of the country’s culture and hospitality.
The ship departed Banjul later on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The arrival of SH Diana adds to the growing number of international cruise vessels calling at The Gambia, providing opportunities for local tourism operators, guides, transport providers, artisans and other businesses to benefit from cruise tourism.
The GTBoard, in collaboration with tourism stakeholders, continues to promote The Gambia as an attractive destination for international visitors, including cruise passengers seeking cultural, historical and nature-based experiences.
