Magistrate Thomas Touray of the Kanifing Magistraes’ Court passed away in February. He was battling with a brief illness. He was always performing his duties in accordance with the law. He would tell litigants that they have the right to appeal against his rulings and judgments if they are not satisfied. He would always stand his ground.

He presided over the PURA protesters’ case which is still pending. He also presided over most of the common nuisance cases with diligence and commitment.

He would always welcome court reporters in his chamber and give out any information needed. He was friendly and respectful if you met him in person.

“Magistrate Touray was very dedicated and committed to his duties. He loved his profession. He was hard working,” Principal Magistrate Isatou Sallah-M’bai of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court said.

“He would come to work on time, and would sit for a long period in court. He was committed to his duties and was personate about his work. I know he was an excellent magistrate,” Kemo Fatty, an interpreter, testified.

Magistrate Thomas Touray is survived by his wife.
