Judiciary launches panels to adjudicate petitions against legal practitioners

On 15 October 2025, the General Legal Council, under the leadership of His Lordship, the Hon. Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow, formally inaugurated three Disciplinary Panels constituted pursuant to Section 28 of the Legal Practitioners Act, 2024.

Following extensive consultations with the Attorney General’s Chambers, the Private Bar, and the Judiciary, the Chairman of the General Legal Council, Hon. Chief Justice Jallow, appointed the following panels to adjudicate petitions lodged against legal practitioners:

Panel 1

Chairman: The Hon. Justice Sarah Aryee (Mrs.) 

Member: Mr. Lamin S. Camara, Private Legal Practitioner 

Member: Mr. Abdoulie Colley, State Law Office 

 

Panel 2 

Chairman: The Hon. Justice Ebrima Jaiteh 

Member: Ms. Yassin Senghore, Private Legal Practitioner 

Member: Dr. Sarah Hope Tebira, State Law Office 

 

Panel 3 

Chairman: The Hon. Justice Isatou Janneh

Member: Mr. Frederick Forster 

Member: Ms. Aji Adam Ceesay 

 

During the ceremony, Hon. Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, Judge of the High Court and Chairman of one of the panels, emphasised, "We have a responsibility to ensure this profession is properly regulated amidst the challenges we face. We thank the Chief Justice for his confidence in us and the members of the General Legal Council. We will deliver to expectations without fear or favor, affection, or ill will."

The panelists have taken an oath of secrecy, committing to uphold confidentiality and avoid any ex parte communication concerning ongoing matters.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow extended his congratulations to the panelists on behalf of the General Legal Council, the Judiciary, and the entire legal fraternity. He stated, "It is crucial that allegations against legal practitioners are investigated and judicially determined, benefiting both the public and the legal practitioners. Members of the bar and all legal practitioners are indispensable to the justice process, and their integrity is vital for maintaining public confidence in our legal system."
