I want a calmed country to take over in 2029: President Diomaye Faye

Jul 17, 2025, 11:02 AM

After a working trip to the United States, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has stepped out of his reservation to quell persistent rumours surrounding his relationship with Prime Minister OusmaneSonko. In a statement full of transparency and political elegance, the Head of State stated:

"I have no problem with my Prime Minister. He wants, quickly, to make my first term successful, and I want to maintain social peace until 2029 to be his campaign director and give him a peaceful country.”

This exit of the president comes at a time, in a context where some voices were voicing dissent at the executive summit. Far from the divisions, this declaration marks an assumed will for political stability and an orderly transition, in a country that aspires to democratic serenity.
