“There is a real transformation in terms of the contents of the newspaper, the outlook of the paper and the consistency in terms of publications, especially the column “Good Morning Mr. President” he said.
“What I like about The Point is that they don’t practice yellow journalism. What they practice is speaking the truth in good faith and in the public interest. I think the strength should continue,” Bah stated.
He advised his fellow senior and young comrades of The Point that they have someone to look up to, whom he referred to as Pap Saine, the co-publisher of the paper. He further commended Mr Saine, saying that Pap Saine knows the media landscape to his fingertips.
Bah further commented on the launch of the mobile-App which he said would help attract young people who are mainly obsessed with mobile phones and the digital space.
He said due to the launch of PointApp, the Paper would compete both online and offline. He commented Baba Hydara for the foresight, saying it is the first of its kind in The Gambia media landscape.
He applauded the management for ensuring that the paper remains more focused, prominent and exist in the media landscape of The Gambia.
Bekai Njie, the editor-in-chief of the Paper said: “We don’t just break because we want to be the first to break it, we break because it is necessary.” He added that digital transformation isn’t something easy, not only here in The Gambia, but across the globe. He noted that digital transformation requires a huge investment, adding that this was just the beginning.
