Contrary to the previous requirements and rules, the Point gathered that Gambian students living in London that needed to provide a proof of £1,334 per month for the duration of their course will now require accessibility of £1,483.
Furthermore, in other areas outside of London, the previously required sum of £1,023 per month during the length of their course is now expected to be £1,136 monthly.
Also, bank statements should effectively present the required balance available and that the amount is also expected to be in their account for at least “28 consecutive days”.
It is also a requirement that a formal letter from the bank confirming the "balance and its availability" be presented.
Additionally, if applicable, an “official scholarship letter and other financial documents proving ability to cover living expenses” during the course should also be submitted.
Bank account or savings account used to show funds should also be under the “student’s name or their parents or legal guardian” respectively.
A “healthcare surcharge; consent; living and care arrangement” in the UK must also be provided.
Responding to this correspondent regarding criticisms of the increment, a senior official noted: “To set the records straight, the figures are updated to account for inflation as well as to improve services”.
However, students who have lived in the UK for another visa for at least 12 months may be exempted.
