Dec 1, 2025, 12:20 PM

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security of The Gambia has announced that the official producer price for groundnuts in the country remains at D38,000 per metric ton. It has been the same price for last year as well.

Meanwhile, the Senegalese government has also announced a groundnut price of D40, 000 per ton, maintaining the same price as last year.

Trade season will begin in The Gambia on 1 December 2025 and ends on 31 March 2026.

The National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation is the only authorised body to buy and export groundnuts during the first three months of the season.

Approved by Cabinet on November 27, the resolution prohibits private companies from purchasing or exporting the produce during that time unless the Agriculture Minister grants a specific license.

This restriction will be vigorously enforced by security forces.
