Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Seedy Keita has said The Gambia is a nation that is hospitable to investors, which is why investment is being attracted to the country.

The Finance Minister made this statement recently during the signing of an MoU between International Tourism Investment and TUI Blue Hotels on management and technical services at Tamala Hotel in Kololi.

“That TUI Blue Hotels as the largest tourism operator globally has come to do this type of investment in The Gambia is a testimony to the ongoing belief and confidence that international investors have in this country,” the Finance Minister said.

Minister Keita said the Gambia welcomes investors into the country “not about the money they bring to the country’, but about the confidence “they have for the entire economic system” in the country.

This interest in the country, he said, has shown that The Gambia is investor-friendly, adding that the investors are encouraged to come and invest in the country, especially in the hospitality and tourism sector.

Talking about the signing of the MoU, the minister said: “This will be a game changer, and it will also motivate other investors to come to this country to invest.”

He added: “Because of the peace and stability we have in this country, investment of this nature will have a good impact on the socio-economic development of this country.”

The Minister also stated that “all foreign direct investments into this country are given a lot of incentives such as the special investment certificate issued by GIEPA”.
