Former Point General Manager Philip Kotey passes away

The Point newspaper is mourning the loss of its former General Manager, Philip Kotey, who passed away on Friday following a brief illness.

Kotey joined The Point in 2010 as General Manager, a position he held until 2022. During his twelve years of service, he played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the newspaper, earning respect across the Gambian media fraternity for his dedication and professionalism.

Reacting to his passing, Baba Hydara, Co-Publisher, and the Managing Director of The Point, expressed deep sorrow. “Philip contributed immensely to the progress of the newspaper during his time with us,” Hydara said, noting that his commitment left a lasting impact on the institution.

On behalf of The Point family, Hydara offered prayers for Kotey, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanatul Firdausi.

Kotey’s death marks the end of a chapter for The Point, but his legacy of service and contribution to Gambian journalism will be remembered for years to come.
