Former IGP Badjie passes away

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ensa Badjie, who was widely known as Jesus, has passed away.

According to reports, the former IGP, who passed away yesterday 13 June 2024,  had been seeking treatment at a hospital after succumbing to a long illness, reportedly stemming from “severe torture by the then National Intelligence Agency (NIA) operatives” under ex-President Yahya Jammeh's regime.

Badjie served as IGP from 2008 to 2010 and was later reinstated by the Barrow administration in various roles until his public service ban following a TRRC recommendation.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
