According to reports, the former IGP, who passed away yesterday 13 June 2024, had been seeking treatment at a hospital after succumbing to a long illness, reportedly stemming from “severe torture by the then National Intelligence Agency (NIA) operatives” under ex-President Yahya Jammeh's regime.
Badjie served as IGP from 2008 to 2010 and was later reinstated by the Barrow administration in various roles until his public service ban following a TRRC recommendation.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
