In a significant political development, Adama John, the former youth president of the Gambia People’s Democratic Party (GPDP), has officially announced his decision to join the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), pledging support for President Adama Barrow’s vision of national development.

John’s move marks another notable shift in the country’s evolving political landscape, particularly among youth leaders and former opposition figures who are increasingly aligning themselves with the governing party ahead of future national engagements.

In a public statement addressed to Gambians, John expressed confidence in President Barrow’s leadership, describing the NPP’s agenda as one rooted in progress, unity, and tangible development.

“I have joined the National People’s Party to support President Adama Barrow’s vision for a developed Gambia,” John declared.

He highlighted key sectors such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, and national advancement as central pillars of the President’s development agenda; areas he believes require collective commitment and national cooperation.

“I believe in his leadership and agenda for progress, let us work together towards a brighter future,” he added.

His decision adds to a growing list of political realignments that continue to shape the dynamics of Gambian politics, especially as the ruling NPP consolidates support across different segments of society.
