DLEAG recovers drugs from suspect’s ‘underwear’

Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) stationed at Amdalai Border Post in the North Bank Region (NBR), have intercepted a Senegalese national who was in possession of 303 pills of Methylenedioxy methamphetamine (MDMA) also known as ecstasy, Molly or Gaw-Gaw in the local illicit drug market.

The drugs were concealed in his “underwear,” The Point has been reliably informed.

The suspect is currently is in the custody of the narcotics agency as investigation into the matter continues.

Ousman Saidybah, the spokesperson of the DLEAG who was contacted for comments, confirmed the development, saying: “The suspect Ibrahim Cissokho, a 31-year-old Senegalese is said to be a driver by occupation and a resident of Dakar.”

“The suspect wrapped the said controlled drugs in a transparent nylon bag and placed it in his underwear,” Saidybah said, adding that he was taken to custody while operatives further probed the matter.

“We use this opportunity to call on the public to remain alert, vigilant and report suspicious drugs and criminal related activities to law enforcement entities. The safety, security and development of this beloved nation of ours should be our collective responsibility. Therefore, we should collaboratively work towards safeguarding the peace and tranquillity that The Gambia has been known for, so that children and youth can grow up to realise their potentials.”
