The operation, conducted on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, led to the apprehension of one Indian national and two Bissau Guineans in Fajara, Kanifing Municipality.
The suspects were found in possession of controlled substances including suspected ecstasy, cannabis resin, skunk, cocaine, crystal molly, cannabis gummies, and illegal firearms.
According to DLEAG spokesperson Mr Ousman Saidybah, the Indian national, Mohammed Rafique Kabir Khan said to be the manager of Envy Night Club was arrested with an astonishing 25,800 pills of suspected ecstasy concealed in six plastic bags, along with 32 blocks of suspected hashish, skunk cannabis, and cannabis gummies. Investigations at his residence further uncovered two pistols, live rounds, and additional drug paraphernalia.
Two other suspects, Bissau-Guinean nationals identified as Quintino Djedju and Papis Djedju, were also detained for joint possession of 25 blocks of suspected cocaine. One claimed to be a ticket seller at the nightclub, while the other reported being a fisherman.
Spokesperson Saidybah confirmed that all three individuals face charges ranging from drug trafficking, illegal possession of controlled drugs, conspiracy, and firearms-related offences under Sections 33, 34, 43, 47 and 53 of the Drug Control Act 2003. He noted that firearms charges carry enhanced penalties: “The law is clear. When violence or firearms are involved in drug crimes, the penalties double without prejudice to additional actions under other statutes.”
In a separate development during the reporting period from 24th to 31st July, the Agency registered eight drug-related offences involving nine suspects. Among them was a 49-year-old Senegalese national arrested at Amdalai border post with a pistol and twelve live rounds. He was handed over to police for further processing, as no drugs were found in his possession.
DLEAG reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and safeguarding national security. “Illicit drug trade jeopardises peace, stability, and the future of our youth,” said Mr Saidybah. “We urge the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities. Community collaboration is the key to building safe and resilient societies.”
