Diplomatic passports of Macky's ministers blocked

Apr 16, 2024, 11:49 AM

The diplomatic passports of outgoing ministers have been blocked. In any case, this is what parliamentarian Adji Mergane Kanouté has just revealed.

“A minister who has just completed the handover of service with the incoming minister cannot travel with his diplomatic passport. These are the new instructions received from the new authorities from our dear Senegal.”

It was Adji Mergane Kanouté, MP, vice-president of the Benno Bok Yakaar parliamentary group, who made the revelation. She explains that the reason given by the new regime is that the diplomatic passport is linked to the function, reports IGFM.

A member of the former presidential movement, who deplores a lack of elegance, declares that she was also affected by the said measure: “I have just been a victim of it but fortunately I am a serving parliamentarian, elected by direct universal suffrage like His Excellency President Diomaye Faye. After verification, my diplomatic passport was given to me.”

For Ms. Kanouté, the new authorities must know how to maintain reason, remain serene and classy, have restraint and elegance in their actions. “The former ministers are Senegalese citizens and did not start traveling with the regime of President Macky Sall. The diplomatic passport is just a privilege to facilitate travel and not a luxury. Its confiscation or suspension cannot prevent a former minister or deputy from being able to travel peacefully with an ordinary passport,” she lectures.
