The Local Government Commission of Inquiry Monday re–summoned the managing director of the Arab Gambia Islamic Bank (AGIB), who was earlier summoned on 15 January 2025 to appear before the Commission of Inquiry on 20 January 2025.

However, the MD did not appear as he delegated or rather authorised his institution's operations manager, Ousainou Jallow, to appear on his behalf.

Lead Counsel Patrick Gomez stated that the summons was for the MD, and he could not delegate it to anyone because it would be contrary to the summons.

Counsel Gomez additionally underscored that the person delegated, who is the operations manager of AGIB, Ousainou Jallow, had previously testified before the Commission.

Reacting to the lead counsel's address, the operations manager said the summons was misconstrued as the MD thought it was the same as the previous engagements.

Re-emphasizing that the summons was for the MD, the Lead Counsel Gomez insisted that the MD should appear. The sitting was adjourned, and a new summons was issued to the MD of AGIB to provide the files of the “Mbalit” Project under the custody of the bank.
