The Baroness, a nominated member of the British House of Lords, said they spoke with Minister Drammeh about the future of Gambia’s education as well as children’s education.
“Our aim is to try and help the people of The Gambia and that for us; it starts with the children and children’s education. If children get good education, they can get better jobs,” she told The Point in a brief interview.
“We were talking about the future of Gambia’s education and the education system,” she added, admitting that the meeting gave her an insight about Gambia’s basic education system.
She talked about the purpose of her visit to The Gambia, saying it was also to see and have firsthand information about their current projects in the country particularly the Bijilo Lower Basic School where they have refurbished three buildings and built extra two for accommodation.
“We have built classrooms and boreholes,” she disclosed, adding that the union is also working with the Bijilo Nursery School – a community based nursery school for upgrading.
