Barrow, others express condolences on Pope Francis demise

World leaders including President Adama Barrow have expressed condolences on the demise of Pope Francis – the head of Catholic Church who died of a stroke and heart failure on Easter Monday at the age of 88. CNN described him as a voice for the poor who overcame fierce resistance to reshape the Catholic Church.

Statement by President Adama Barrow on the Passing of His Holiness Pope Francis:

“It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

The late Pope was a visionary leader with utmost dedication to fostering peace, international understanding and unity.

I convey my condolences and deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, The Holy Sea and the entire Catholic fraternity.
