
He added that they are decentralising road projects across the country to make sure The Gambia is connected.
President Barrow was speaking with journalists after his site visits to ongoing road projects in the Greater Banjul Area on Saturday, 15 March 2025.
Barrow’s marathon site visits began around 11am and covered these project sites P3 – GPPC Rd – Westfield (Jokor) – Abuko – Abuko Concrete Road; P5 Sukuta – Latrikunda Sabiji; P12 Rev. J.C. Faye ; P18 Kololi/Senegambia Road Intersection – Touba Sanchaba Road; P6 Kololi Tavern – Bijilo – Brufut; EPC Lot 8 Gunjur Road; EPC Lot 9 Sanyang Road; Ebo Town; Sinchu; and Brufut, Mandiana, Kunkujang road.
“We have really progressed so far with the 50km roads and with the roads that the NRA is doing. We are doing different road projects at the same time. Some projects are with the NRA, some are government, while others are the OIC roads,” President Barrow further said.
According to him, no government can develop a country without road building, while citing Dubai and America as examples.
“As The Gambia is a developing nation, we are very aggressive with our agenda and direction towards road infrastructure development. We are doing everything possible to make sure we have good roads”.
The Gambian leader also expressed delight with the level of happiness from people during his visits to the projects, adding that the people are happy about the positive impacts the roads have on their daily lives.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded on the projects while encouraging the contractors and consultants to redouble their efforts to meet the target completion of all the ongoing projects.
