Assembly ratifies US$16M UTG Phase II Project

The National Assembly, on Tuesday ratified a loan agreement of US$16million for the University of The Gambia (UTG) Project Phase II.

The loan is meant for the construction of the UTG Faraba Banta Campus.

The amount stated is set to cover the construction of the UTG Chancery, the Faculty of Law and School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.

The ratification came following the agreement made between the Republic of The Gambia and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa

The project aims to secure 1600 additional study seats to meet the increasing demand for university education and to contribute to fulfilling the country’s future needs of specialised scientific cadres in various fields.

The project’s objectives also aim to meet the needs of the country and the labour market, support economic and social development and contribute to alleviating poverty in the country.
