The appointment was made by United Nations Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres, who named Ambassador Prof. Kah among 12 distinguished new members to the Advisory Group.
Established by the UN General Assembly in 2005, the CERF Advisory Group provides strategic policy guidance to the Secretary-General through the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator on the effective, transparent and impactful use of CERF resources to respond rapidly to humanitarian crises worldwide .
Since becoming operational in 2006, CERF has delivered over US$9.2 billion in life-saving assistance to people affected by emergencies in more than 110 countries and territories, enabling swift action in contexts ranging from conflict and displacement to climate-related disasters.
The appointment, announced in August 2025 by the United Nation ,underscores Ambassador Kahโs profound commitment to global humanitarian efforts and multilateralism. This recognition reflects international confidence in his leadership, multilateral experience and deep commitment to humanitarian solidarity, particularly in advancing the voices and priorities of developing and least developed countries within the global system.
