2 witnesses confirm alleged PIU shooter wore ‘kaftan’ during incident

The second and fourth witnesses in the alleged PIU shooter case have testified that the alleged shooter was wearing a ‘kaftan’.

However, the first prosecuting witness, Ismaila Bojang, told the court that the shooter was wearing a “yellowish kind of shirt” and a “three-quarter trouser”.

While the second witness, Bakary Jarju, confirmed to the court that the shooter was wearing a ‘kaftan’ and the fifth witness, Commissioner Momodou Sowe of the Anti-Crime Unit, said the team of investigators recovered a ‘kaftan’ and canvas shoes in Ousainou Bojang’s room in Brufut.

Commissioner Momodou Sowe revealed that the alleged PIU shooter led them to recover the clothes he wore during the shooting of the police officers and that he was wearing desert combat boots which were subsequently recovered by the investigators.

But the fourth prosecuting witness, Lamin Fofana, a watchman, said he was told that the man on the run was a “thief” and he stated that he was wearing a ‘kaftan’. 

After a kaftan and canvas shoes were recovered in Ousainou Bojang’s room, Commissioner Sowe further revealed that at the lodge where Ousainou used to work, they recovered a black jean which was soaked in a bucket of water.

The 1st witness further revealed that at the crime scene they were searching and scanning the area and found two bullet cases, while the 2nd witness said also he found an empty case of pistol which he handed over to one inspector who was confirmed to be an officer at the Anti-Crime Unit.

The 4th witness also revealed that the “thief” he ran after “threw a gun at him”, which he found dismantled and he picked it up and  threw it onto an empty land.

The 5th witness confirmed recovering bullet cases and a pistol at the crime scene.
