The alleged PIU shooter’s main trial continued yesterday before Justice E. Jaiteh of the Banjul High Court.

It would be recalled that the High Court suspended the main trial of the alleged PIU shooter case and focused on other matters subsidiary to the main trial.

Ebou Sowe told the court that on 15 September 2023, the second accused, Amie Bojang, led investigators to one Abdoulie Drammeh, a taxi driver, who was interviewed. The witness said the driver confirmed to the investigators that he was hired by the 2nd accused from Brikama to Brufut and then drove the 1st accused to the border at Giboro.

One Buba Manneh, a Jakarta driver, was also interviewed and he confirmed to the investigators that he drove the 1st accused to Senegal.

He further said the accused told him the same vehicle drove him through Senegambia Road to Giboro.

The witness told the court that the accused handed over a black bag to his sister the second accused, which contained his Senegalese passport and a non-Gambian ID Card.

“The accused claimed that the 2nd accused hired a motorcycle locally called Jakarta and drove him to Senegal. It was as a result of the said narration that the 2nd accused was arrested,” PW6 narrated.

The second accused was arrested and interrogated about the allegations made by the 1st accused, Sowe explained, saying the 2nd accused admitted to having provided the 1st accused with the motor vehicle and the Jakarta.
