On midnight Saturday, people around the globe will welcome a New Year 2023.  First, we want to return thanks and praises to Almighty God for all the successes, triumphs and challenges and also guiding and seeing us through 2021.

To the celebrant, let’s prepare to celebrate the fest responsibly. Let's avoid vices that would defeat the purpose of our celebrations.

Let's apply due care with fireworks, which is one of the symbols widely used to celebrate the event.

Since it's yet the beginning of another New Year, let's not forget to set out for ourselves new resolutions.

Across the globe, New Year fest is characterised with fun filled memories for many. For some it is really fun as they enjoy a good and special time with their families and friends.

From fireworks, parties and outing with friends and families, there is even much more to explore during this end of year fest.

After all these parties, let's not forget to work on our new year resolutions.

Some of these resolutions are accomplished while others experience setbacks. However, what is important in life is perseverance, dedication and don't forget to make efforts and leave the rest with Almighty God.

Going further, as we are about to kiss goodbye bye to 2022, let's reflect on the challenges and gains registered.

Generally, 2022 has been a challenging year; from skyrocketing commodity food prices, depreciation of the local currencies, surge in crime rate and other economic hardships which impacts are felt across.

We must note that the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has definitely presented challenges for state and local health officials, who have been trying to balance the need for safety against people’s individual freedoms and the health of the economy

While the globe battled with a coronavirus pandemic, then came the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which further exacerbated global food shortage. The flaring tensions between these two countries has further increased food prices at the world market, while increasing demand at the same time.

At the home front, the past year has seen a remarkable surge in the number of murder cases, violent robbery to other nefarious vices in the country.

The nightmare has put many families in difficult circumstances especially those in urban Gambia.

As we approach another year, let's not only reflect on the gains made, but also challenges and set ourselves a vision to chart a way forward.

For authorities, this is a perfect moment to contemplate on good reforms. The government needs to refocus more on its reform agenda and bring about robust development.

We want to take this opportunity to wish all our readership, clients and customers, a happy new year in advance.
