Young Gambian journalist seeks support to study abroad

Jainaba Manjang, a young Gambian journalist working with The Voice newspaper, is seeking financial support to do a BA (Hons) in journalism at Xin-Jiang University of Finance and Economics, North West China.

Ms Manjang, who is the head of the women’s desk at The Voice newspaper, should have started the course in January 2012 but was unable to attend for financial reasons. The university has now postponed her enrollment to September 2012.

Total tuition fee for the four-year course is £10,000. There are also additional costs for language tuition, accommodation, insurance and visas.

Ms Manjang is calling on the government, NGOs, the private sector and individuals to come to her aid.
