Former GCAA director general charged with theft

A charge of theft was Wednesday brought against One Malick I.M. Cham, former Director General of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Secka.

Ex-director-general Cham, who denied the charge, was granted court bail of D100,000 with two Gambian sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means, and deposit their ID cards.

The particulars of offence read in court stated that the accused, Malick I.M. Cham, in October 2009 at the Banjul International Airport in the West Coast Region, stole D41,359 being the property of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, and thereby committed an offence.

Hearing was adjourned till 12 June 2013.
