Yarambamba Academy of Yundum village were on Sunday crowned champions of Brikama third trophy after beating Sky Power 5-4 on penalty shootout at the Box Bar Mini-stadium.
Organised by the Brikama Youth and Sports Committee (BYSC), the tournament was organised to raise fund for the West Coast Region giants Brikama United, who are preparing for the 2010-11 GFA first division league.
Following a 2-2 draw in the regulation period, Yarambamba Academy emerged the winners after a dramatic penalty shootout.
The champions, Yarambamba, walked away with a trophy and a cash prize of D6,000, while Sky Power received D4,000 as a consolation prize.
In a similar development, Cannon FC are through to the quarterfinal of the 24-team junior tournament organised by Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation.
Cannon advanced to the last eight after beating Ball Conge FC 1-0 on Monday at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Alieu Jallow’s strike in the 4th minute into the second half was enough to earn his side a place in the quarterfinal of the competition.
Speaking to Pointsport shortly after the game, Omar Bojang, head coach of Cannon FC, said the game was fairly contested.
