Yusupha Camara, a prosecution witness, recently testified before Magistrate Edward Singhateh of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court in the ongoing theft case involving one Karamo Ceesay.

Camara told the court that he was relaxing in his house when he heard a noise of a crowd saying ‘thief’, adding that he then joined the people who were chasing the ‘thief’ and they subsequently apprehended him.

He said the accused initially said he could not understand Mandinka and Wollof but when things were tough on him, he admitted he could speak Mandinka.

He added that the accused was never beaten at the time they apprehended him and was taken to Bundung Police Station.

The witness stated that he gave a statement at the Bundung Police Station, and he could recognize his statement if it was shown to him.

He identified the statement, which was later tendered and marked as exhibit.

The case continues.
