The alleged rape case involving one Wuyeh Keita yesterday continued at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul with the testimony of the third prosecution witness.

In her testimony, Aminata Dumbuya told the court she was informed by the friend of the victim that the victim was raped by the accused but the victim was afraid to disclose it.

She added that when she called the victim on her mobile phone, the victim refused to speak to her, but the victim later confessed that she was raped by the accused in his house at Bakoteh.

The witness disclosed that the accused is a friend to their uncle and that was why their grandmother said nobody should inform the father of the victim about the incident, because if the victim’s father knew about it, he would report the matter to the police.

She said when the father of the victim knew about it, he took the accused person to Bakoteh Police where the accused was detained and later brought to court.

The case continues.
