Witness testifies in alleged fraud case

[The first prosecution witness (PW1), Innocent Okafor, recently testified in the trial involving one Modou Ceesay, accused of obtaining money by false pretence, before Magistrate Wilson of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Okafor told the court that he lives at Kotu and works as a trader.

He recognised the accused and recalled that in April 2015, a friend of his, one Decent, told him that there is a college called International Business College owned by the accused person, which is in partnership with some colleges in Denmark and Belarus.

He said these colleges are Copenhagen Business College in Denmark and Belarus Economic State University.

He went with the friend to meet the accused at his office at Kotu, he said, adding that he told the accused that his friend, Innocent, told him something and he would like the accused to explain to him.

The accused told him that they do award scholarships with his business partner, he said, adding that the accused told him the procedure.

At that juncture, the case was adjourned for continuation.
