Buba Fadera, a narcotics officer, recently testified at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court in the trial involving one Amadou Sanneh, who was charged with being in possession of prohibited drug.
Officer Fadera told the court he is a narcotics officer attached to Senegambia and that he recognised the accused person.
He said that on 13 June 2012, he was at his office in Senegambia when he received a phone call from his officer commanding that there was information about Sukuta which they should work on.
He led a team of officers to Sukuta at the compound of the accused and found him praying in the parlor, he said, adding that they waited until the accused finished his prayers and they identified themselves to him that they wanted to conduct a search on him.
“A search was conducted on him and nothing was found,” he said, adding that they entered into the bedroom and found a blue bag containing 32 parcels of suspected cannabis in his cupboard.
A further search was conducted and a black bag was found containing one big bundle of suspected cannabis, he said.
The accused was arrested and taken to the Kotu NDEA office, he stated.
Hearing on the case is adjourned till 6 September 2012.
