Kemo Y. Ceesay, chief committee organizer, said the combats are together named “Darappo Lecket Bu Barra” and will feature junior and senior categories.
He said they target 50 wrestlers for both categories.
He revealed that the winner of the senior category will go home with 2 bags of rice and a 20-litter gallon of cooking oil whilst the runner-up will receive a bag of rice.
The winner of the junior category will pocket home D1,000 while the runner-up will walk away with D500.
He stated that the combat is meant for youth to showcase their cultural talents as well as develop the sport within the region.
Mr Ceesay said the income generated from the competition will be ploughed back to the community as their main intervention areas are: supporting the community’s mosque, the nursery school and the Arabic school.
Lamin Queen Jammeh, Governor of North Bank Region, is the chief guest of honour and is expected to deliver a statement, while Aja Tumbulu Samateh-Manneh of Barra is Chief patron, Mr Ceesay said.
