We are all Gambians despite our political allegiances. As human beings, we are bound to quarrel, have disputes and find solutions.
We are, therefore, appealing to the authorities to release all political detainees for the sake of peace.
As citizens, we should respect the rule of law, human rights, good governance and transparency.
We as Gambians should always nurture peace in our dear motherland. We should also avoid trouble and live amicably as brothers and sisters.
It is not bad to have divergent views; as every one of us has his or her choice in everything in life, and this includes belonging to political parties of one’s choice. But this should not create enmity among us. We are all kith and kin and, therefore, one family.
We appeal for national reconciliation; we should bury the hatchet and open a new page.
As Muslims, we should forget and forgive. We should nurture peace and maintain tranquillity in the country, while respecting the rule of law.
We should learn from the mistakes of other nations around the world.
One thing, we must advise, that has brought down many nations, is the absence of the rule of law and respect for human rights.
As citizens we must always yearn for peace, justice and progress.
“Let’s pray for peace and tranquillity for our beloved country”
