West
Coast Radio’s head of sports, Hagie Drammeh, was appointed Ambassador of the
International Sport Media Club (ISMC) in The Gambia, on Monday.
The
news of Mr. Drammeh’s appointment was welcomed by many of his followers and
colleagues who took to social media to congratulate and express their delight
about his appointment.
When
contacted by Point Sports, Mr. Drammeh said he started working with the ISMC in
2017 when he was invited by the Club to cover the 5th Asia Indoor and Martial
Art Games in Turkmenistan.
The
Sports File anchor thanked West Coast Radio proprietor Peter Gomez for showing
him to the world, promising to work with other colleagues to promote and
support sport reporters.
The
International Sport Media Club was formed in 2017 with its headquarters in
Tunisia. It started with 500 members and had their first meeting during the 5th
Asia Indoor and Martial Art Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017.
The
objective of the Club is to support the media across the globe in encouraging
youth in sports and sports reporting.
The
ISMC has 47 Ambassadors in different countries who promote and support young
sport journalists who could be great future broadcasters.
In
2018, the ISMC organized its first media forum in Tunisia where over 57 people
from all parts of the world participated. The second forum was held in Egypt
with the number increasing to 78 participants from the world. It will hold its
third forum in March 2020, before going for their first congress later the same
year.
The
club has 3700 members. The Club, which target 10, 000 members before three
years, has 3700 so far but aims to reach every sports journalist in the world.
