
Yaya Gassama Gomez, who plays in the Swedish topflight league with IFK Gothelburg reserve team, is one of the latest football exports to be invited for the Gambia U-23 team.
Gomez is a Gambian born footballer, who also featured for the Swedish Under-18 team. His ambition is to play for his native land, The Gambia.
He is currently training with The Gambia U-23 national team in preparation for the first leg of the 2012 Olympic qualifiers away to
Gomez is a versatile player who can play in the central midfield and can operate on both flanks as well as on a striking position.
The Swedish-based player told Poinsport: “I am delighted for having been invited to come and play for my native country.
“The Gambian football is developing from strength to strength and I am glad to be part of this development.”
The utility player expressed optimism that he would prove himself in order to have a place in the U-23 team starting line-up.
