A high-powered delegation of the West African Football Union member association presidents numbering 16 will arrive in the Smiling Coast of Africa (The Gambia) on Friday as the country gets set to host what promises to be a historic WAFU Extraordinary General Assembly gathering this weekend, Pointsport can reveal.

Seedy Kinteh president of the Gambia Football Association, GFA, has disclosed to this reporter that the decision to host the meeting in Banjul was taken during the WAFU meeting held in Kartoum, Sudan,  some time ago, and he expressed optimism that this will be the best-ever gathering since his involvement with the WAFU body a few years ago.

The delegation which will consist of some of the continent’s top dignitaries, Kinteh added, will stay at the Kairaba Beach Hotel, where they will be lodged ahead of the Banjul meeting slated for Saturday.

The meeting, according to the GFA supremo, will also avail the West African country the golden opportunity to invite some of the biggest foreign media, including the famous Supersport.

“All the delegates will land at Banjul international Airport on different flights on Friday, and will head to the Kairaba Beach Hotel where they will be accommodated,” Kinteh said, adding that he was extremely delighted when it was confirmed that Banjul will host the meeting.

He said he was satisfied with the preparations ahead of the weekend assembly, and is confident that the country will host a successful WAFU Assembly meeting when the event takes centrestage in two days time.
