The issuance of the national identification card commenced yesterday after a lull of eight months, according to a press release from the office of the Ministry of the Interior in Banjul.
The release further revealed that the general public is hereby informed that the issuance of national identification card commenced yesterday 5 January 2016.
Therefore, all Gambians who are eighteen years and above can now apply to secure ID cards from any of the immigration issuing centres across the country, at a cost or for a fee of D150.
The release added that applicants are advised to come along with two passport-size photos, and Gambians whose ID cards have expired could have renewal of their ID cards by providing a copy of the expired ID card with a birth certificate or a voter’s card.
However, new applicants must be aged eighteen and above, and must provide copies of any two of the following documents namely, birth certificate, voter’s card, passport, expired ID Cards, old ID cards and Alkalo’s attestation.
