Six Gambian Athletes Qualify for World Junior Championship

GAA Seeks Financial Assistance to Send Athletes to Italy

Six Gambian Athletes; Fatou Sowe, Abdoulie Assim (100metres runners) , Ousman Gibba, Omar Ceesay (200 metres runners)  Momodou Lamin Kujabi, and Kemo Colley (400 metres runners) have qualified to participate at the  world Junior  Championship in Italy in July.

In their quest to send the qualified Gambian team to the world championship, The Gambia Athletic Association is said to be face with financial constraints.

Alh Dodou Joof, GAA Secretary General informed Pointsport that "the IAAF can only provide two air tickets for one athlete and one accompanying coach. The GAA executive is appealing for financial assistance to enable the other five athletes to travel to the championships".

These athletes are the current West African junior champions in their respective events and have dominated the West African junior championships in Lome, Togo.

The Italy championship in Bressanone is billed from July 8th and wraps up four days later.
