Fajikunda and Tallinding grassroots football organizations on 11 March 2012 commenced a ten-team tournament.

The tournament, geared towards identifying talents within the two communities, according to Junior Kamara, organizer of the event, “is an essential thing, because we have a lot of academies and our aims and objectives are to develop the grassroots football base with the materials available with us”.

“These kids are our assets and as coaches, when we all join together to train them, give them the knowledge of football, one day they will be our future national players,” Kamara said, adding that each academy participating in the tournament registered twenty-five players and five officers.

There is no registration fee for teams, but the next one the committee responsible will decide what to do but there will be no cash prize; the winner will only have a trophy, he said.

Group A comprises Sohna FC Academy, Serrekunda East, Omar Moco, Untouchable and Eagle Star academies.

Raptim FC Academy are pitted in group B against Tallinding, More Fire, S. Villa and Ziko Academies.
