Gunjur United on Friday defeated Gintos Football Academy 3-0 in the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Triangular third division qualifiers at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium.
Gunjur United came into the game with a single point while Gintos Football Academy came into the game with seven points in three games but the latter were outplayed and outclassed by Gunjur United throughout the entire ninety minutes.
Gunjur United opened the score through winger wizard Saikouba Manneh (alias Safety) in the 32nd minute of the game from a spectacular strike to give his side the lead. And Abdoulie Jammeh, alias Beckham, in the 62nd minute of the game, broke through Gintos Football Academy’s defence line to make it 2-0 for Gunjur United.
Substitute Musa Sonko netted the third goal for Gunjur United in the dying minute of the game to seal the victory for the South boys and earn them their first win in the qualifiers.
Gunjur United have now bagged 4 points in two games with a game in hand against Nema United, who are yet to collect a points since the start of the qualifiers a fortnight ago, while Gintos Football Academy have collected 7 points in four games.
