Two convicted for making false document

Muhammed Hafeez and Sindra Hafeez were recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D50,000 each in default to serve one year in prison with hard labour by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court for making false document.

The facts as narrated before the court stated that on 26 December 2011, the convicted persons went to the Banjul International Airport with intent to travel to the UK.

The facts further stated that they presented UK passports with serial numbers 307414837 and 307198172 to the profiling officers of SN Brussels Airline, who suspected the passports to be fake.

It was further stated that the convicted persons together with the two passports were handed over to the police for further investigation.

The facts still indicated that the passports were sent to the British High Commissioner for verification, who sent it back with a letter indicating that the passports were fake.
