Two convicted for affray

Magistrate Mbye of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted Mustapha Njie and Buba Suno upon their own admission of guilt on a charge of affray.

They were then sentenced to maintain the peace for a period of six months.

The facts narrated by CPL 3084 Ceesay stated that it happened on 11 May 2015, at Babylon in Serrekunda.

Both accused persons were in a public place and were using abusive words on each other and later got into a fight.

During the fight, both sustained injuries and they were brought to Serrekunda Police Station where they were escorted to Serrekunda Health Centre for treatment.

After the treatment, they were brought back to the said police station where they were charged with the offence committed.

In their mitigation, they both begged the court for mercy, as they are friends.

The charge sheet read that on 11 May 2015, at Serrekunda Babylon in the Kanifing Municipality, they took part in a fight in a public place and thereby committed an offence.
