Two men were recently arraigned before Magistrate Jeng of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
Lamin Touray and Buba Colley were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining money by false pretence.
The charge sheet on count one stated that the accused persons, Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, some time in 2011, at Brikama Town, West Coast Region, conspired among themselves to commit an offence.
Count two read that some time in 2011, at Brikama Town, West Coast Region, the accused persons, Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, with intent to defraud, obtained D150,000 from one Ousman Barrow by selling a plot of land No: 123 to him, situated at Kabafita Layout, knowing or having reasons to believe that the said plot of land did not belong to them.
They both denied the charges and were each granted court bail of D200,000 with two Gambian sureties who should deposit valid title deeds equivalent to D200,000 to the registrar of the court and they should also swear to an affidavit of means.
The two accused persons were on the same day arraigned before the same court, charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining money by false pretence.
According to the particulars of offence on count one, the accused persons, Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, some time in 2011, at Brikama Town, West Coast Region, conspired among themselves to commit an offence.
The charge sheet on count two read that in the same year and place, the two accused persons, Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, with intent to defraud, obtained D160,000 from Yaya Sonko by selling the same plot of land No: 123 to him situated at Kabafita Layout, knowing or having reasons to believe that the said plot of land did not belong to them.
Both denied the charges and were each granted court bail of D200,000 with two Gambian sureties who should deposit valid title deeds equivalent to D200,000 to the registrar of the court and should also swear to an affidavit of means.
Lamin Touray and Buba Colley were again on the same day arraigned at the same court charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining money by false pretence.
The charge sheet on count one read that Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, in the same year and place, conspired among themselves to commit an offence.
Count two indicated that Lamin Touray and Buba Colley, on the same year and place, with intent to defraud, obtained D60,000 from one Sherrifo Bojang by selling the same plot of land No: 123 to him situated at Kabafita Layout, knowing or having reasons to believe that the said plot of land did not belong to them.
They denied the charges and were each granted court bail of D25,000 with two Gambian sureties who should swear to an affidavit of means.
Both cases were adjourned till 3 June 2013, for hearing.
