Two arraigned for alleged theft

Ebrima Jatta and Jainaba Sanneh were recently arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with stealing.

Both pleaded not guilty of the charge and each was subsequently granted bail of D50,000 with a Gambian surety who must deposit a national ID card.

According to the charge sheet, in January 2011, at Bakau Newtown, in the Kanifing Municipality, the two accused persons stole from the shop of one Femi Toshun three mobile phones marked Nokia N78, I-phone 3G and TV mobile phone valued at D8,000, D7,500 and D7,800 respectively and a Kodak digital camera valued at D7,000, all being the property of the said Femi Toshun.

The case was adjourned until 8 March 2011.
