Trial of former GCAA boss adjourned

The trial involving former Gambia Civil Aviation Authority director general Malick I.M. Cham was yesterday adjourned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Jagne.

When the case was announced, the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Touray, said he was to call the prosecution’s second witness (PW2), but he called the accused person’s former office, and was told they would send him a letter to withdraw the case.

He then applied for an adjournment to enable him get the said letter so as to tender in court, as he could not withdraw the case without the letter.

The case was adjourned till 7 October 2013, for the said withdrawal letter to be brought before the court.

The particulars of offence read in court stated that the accused, Malick I.M. Cham, in October 2009, at the Banjul International Airport, in the West Coast Region, stole D41,359 being the property of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, and thereby committed an offence.
