Mr. Jonas Ayi, the Managing Director of Total Gambia Limited has said that Total under its new management is committed to its activities in the socio-economic development of The Gambia.

Mr. Ayi made these statements at a one-day Total Gambia first-ever staff summit held at Senegambia Beach Hotel last Saturday.

According to him, the purpose of the staff summit was to review business operations and to improve on certain areas.

"Total currently occupies a dominant position in Africa with downstream operations in over 60 countries and is a major player in Africa's upstream activity of exploration and production of oil and gas," he asserted.

Mr. Ayi stated that Total Gambia is a key player in the oil marketing sector for more than three decades. This, he said, is manifested in the huge recognition of the Total brand among the Gambian consuming public.

"The company is visible and well represented across the country and has most comprehensive products, particularly its range of lubricants which is the result of extensive technological research by The Total Group," he posited. He noted that it is not by chance that a member of one of the world's largest petro-chemical companies is operating in the economy and that this is an indication of the confidence Total has in the Gambian economy.

In the area of marketing, Mr. Ayi revealed that Total Gambia is the only oil marketing company that provides the most comprehensive car care products in The Gambia. These car care products, he stated provide safety, reliability, optimum performance, economy and an appropriate ambience to make riding a pleasurable experience.

Total Gambia Limited is a subsidiary of Total France, the world 5th largest oil and gas company.
